Attuning, adapting, and assessing the needs of both individual clients and groups, Ali skillfully bridges the educational and healing dimensions of the expressive arts, and in so doing, is the quintessence of the adage: all art is therapeutic!”

Lucy Barbera, PhD, LCAT Director, Trauma-Informed Creative Art Therapy Certificate Programs

At Ali Roland Studio, a creative arts studio for healing and play located in the beautiful Hudson Valley and town of Red Hook, NY, I offer individual, small group, and family sessions. Hour-long sessions are designed to help clients manage anxiety, grief, loss, social challenges, school worry and stress, divorce, and relationships. Through a playful creative practice we express and explore feelings through visual art, learning to regulate emotions, manage stress, find hope, tell stories, use our voices, and experience healing. A sand play tray facilitates story-telling that helps participants replace fears with hopes and gain insight on lived experience. In the studio you can draw, paint, make masks, sew, collage, make prints, sculpt with clay—all with the goal to move toward self-discovery, free expression, and joy.

“Expressive art therapy integrates all of the arts in a safe, non-judgmental setting to facilitate personal growth and healing. To use the arts expressively means going into our inner realms to discover feelings and to express them through visual art, movement, sound, writing, or drama. This process fosters release, self-understanding, insight and awakens creativity and transpersonal states of consciousness.”
